Candidate for Graduate Chairperson
LAINE ZISMAN NEWMAN
Laine is currently a Documentary Media Graduate Student running for the position of Chairperson on the Graduate Executive Committee. In 2010, Laine completed a Masters degree in Drama at the University of Toronto, where she was a member of the Graduate Drama Centre’s Student Executive and Academic Committee. As a member of these committees Laine assisted in the planning and organizing of various student events including producing a Masters Student Showcase in June 2010. In addition to her academic endeavours, Laine is a theatre practitioner and experimental filmmaker. Currently, she is the Dramaturgical Associate at Pat the Dog’s Playwright Development Centre.
If elected Laine will continue to ensure Grad issues are addressed at Ryerson and lobby against the significant research grant cuts recently made by the Government.

Candidate for Graduate Executive Deputy Chair Finance
WAQAS MANZOOR
Waqas Manzoor is currently a PhD student in aerospace engineering. With his bachelor’s and master’s degrees also from Ryerson, he is certainly a well integrated member of the community. Over the past seven years he has been involved with various teams, groups, jobs and events within the university, and currently serves as the Graduate Students Representative on the Senate.
If elected Waqas would like to continue to bring grad issues to the forefront of all University bodies, specifically Senate, in order to institutionalize grad representation.
